Autumn/Winter 2014
Lets say it together, ‘where has this year gone?!’
It feels like only yesterday I was making ridiculous new years resolutions of fitness and frugality
yet here we are, A/W 2014.
I have to admit being a winter born baby, this is the time of year I love.
I switch over my wardrobes (half still being kept at home with my mum) in early October saying goodbye to my play-suits and chiffon dresses and hello to my cable knits, capes and cashmere.
Admittedly, the switch does signal the end of summer, but it also marks the start of my favourite fashion season.
Cue soft greys, faux-furs and worn leather.
Winter trends to look out for
-Swinging Sixties-
Think Twiggy, Audrey Hepburn and Jane Birkin.
This trend was seen at Gucci, Saint Laurent and Louis Vuitton at the A/W 2014 shows.
Mini-skirts, Mary-Janes and pastel colors paid tribute to the baby doll style, presenting a fresh, carefree take on the Swinging Sixties London.
-Aspen chic-
Fast forward a decade and the Seventies cult argyle sweater has made its big return.
Louis Vuitton paired the classic piece with a Sixties leather skirt, whilst Maison Martin Margiela cinched it with a skinny belt, and Tommy Hilfiger featured fringe detailing.
-Second skin-
Shearling has made a comeback for Winter 2014 and its this season’s must-have piece!
Making you feel truly wintery the trend was shown in cuddly, soft silhouettes, with an ethnic vibe at Burberry or pop feel at Prada.
