I’ve never taken fashion too seriously, to me you have to inject a little fun into whatever you wear. The other week I went back up north to spend the weekend at home with my mum and like I do every time I’m home, I raided through my old wardrobe to pull pieces that I wanted to wear. I’m the worst at keeping old clothes – but there is method to my madness! If it’s something that I think is likely to make a reappearance then I’ll keep it, sometimes for years without wearing it and then ‘BAM’ it’s my new favourite thing! Well that’s exactly what happened this time round. Whilst delving into the unknown I pulled out my old ‘Ink&Paint’ top. Black, long sleeved, adorned with a sequinned Mickey Mouse on the front.
It’s a top I bought when I was 15 from the ‘Think Bubbles’ boutique in Cleethorpes. I remember them being all the rage at school so I saved up and bought it. Fast forward ten years, I tried it on and to my surprise it still fit! I instantly fell in love with it all over again, I felt like a big kid proudly walking down the street with my Disney top and miss sixty denim skirt (another old find) it was so much fun! I know you can’t where cartoon clothes to every occasion but I do think it’s so important to play around with your style. Add that child like quality, after all look at all of Jeremy Scott’s recent hits for Moschino! Barbie made a big comeback! So what I’m really trying to say is no matter how old I am or how much my style develops over time, I’d always want my wardrobe to retain an element of fun, because fashion should never be taken too seriously!
