Date Night: Reds True BBQ & The Golden Bee Rooftop Cinema

So you find yourself in the world of singledom once again, the answer….date nights with your girl friends of course!
You know those moments where you’re at a restaurant or at an amazing bar and you look around and think, wow – this would make the most perfect date location!
Well why the hell should you miss out just because you’re single?
The other day my friend Yasmin and I went for dinner at Red’s True BBQ in Shoreditch and then to the rooftop cinema across the road at The Golden Bee. We had the best night and so decided to make it a regular outing.
So stay tuned for some of my ‘Date-night’ posts, perfect for singles and couples alike!

We actually hadn’t planned to go to Red’s True BBQ, but as we were early and a little bit peckish we saw the restaurant and headed in.
Whilst in there we realised it had only just opened in the area, we also realised you had to be more than peckish! The menu was heavy, but we were ready for the challenge.
We started off with cocktails, I went for ‘Serving Thyme’ – A vibrant pink combination of Absolut Vodka, The Bitter Truth Elderflower Liquor, Ilegal Mezcal Reposado, raspberries, fresh thyme and lime.

Then comes the food!
For sides we went for sweet potato fries and mac and cheese.
For the main event Yasmin had the PITMaster S’wich – Black Angus brisket, cheese and jalapeño smoked sausage, Red’s pulled pork with tangy slaw, South Carolina BBQ sauce, sliced fresh jalapeño, and a fried pickle in a brioche bun.

And for me the Sleepy James – Southern fired chicken breast in waffles, peppered bacon, shredded lettuce, burger cheese, slaw and ranch dressing.

The food was epic! I won’t lie I was defeated and couldn’t quite finish, but I gave it my best shot!
So after the mammoth feast we were both unable to move – full on food coma!
We had a little rest and then headed to the Golden Bee where we had booked into to the rooftop cinema to watch bridesmaids!

When we got there, we headed to our two seater sofa to pop down our things and then swiftly to the bar – where it just so happened to be happy hour! Bring on the cocktails!
We went for Pornstar and Lychee Martinis.
As the film was about to start, we were handed blankets and popcorn (unlimited top-up’s!)

The film of course was hilarious and the setting just perfect!
The rooftop events sell out quiet quickly so you do need to book in advance, but it’s such a good night out! Obviously if the weather is gloomy its a no-go but on those odd summer nights its the perfect date night for girl-friends/ boyfriends/ best friends/everyone!

Over and out,

Little Miss Winney x
