Cypriot Sunsets

Ahhhhhhh… a few days a go I landed back in London from the most relaxing holiday with my two girl friends Alice and Izzy T.
Now just a little warning before I go on, this isn’t going to be like the majority of my travel posts, no guide, no where to go/ what to eat. To be honest we spent most of our time lazing on the beach and swimming in the sea (bliss.) Instead it’s going to be a post that I’ve wanted/hoped to write for a long time.

As the lyrics from the famous Nina Simone song say ‘It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life and i’m feeling good.’ That is exactly what I feel like! I’ve finally been able to let go of some serious emotional baggage I’d been holding onto and I feel like a whole new person or perhaps more accurately, the old me that I haven’t been in touch with for quite some time.

We decided on sunny Paphos, a city on the southwest coast of the Mediterranean island and although it may not have fed my mind culturally it definitely fed my heart spiritually (yes I know that sounds pretentious as hell but hear me out…)
The five days we spent there we spent relaxing, surrounded by sun, sea and sand and witnessing the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen. The food was exquisite and I proudly overdosed on fresh fish, greek salad and heaps of grilled halloumi.
I used my days to read, to write, I even swam out to a docked boat at one point, climbed on board and meditated *namasteand it’s exactly what I needed – to relax, take a breath and take a moment.

It was so nice to put the laptop away, turn the email notifications off and just allow myself to drift off. On the second day, I took my notebook along to the beach with me and out poured a tonne of creative ideas for the blog, it was almost as if I just needed to step away for a second to give my mind the space it needed to breath. It was so cathartic, writing my thoughts and ideas down whilst listening to the waves flow in and out, add a cheeky cocktail and I was honestly IN HEAVEN.

I’m happy to report that I’ve returned with a clear head and a happy heart and ready to tackle the last few months of 2016 head on! Although I love nothing more than discovering different cultures and exploring the architecture and history of a country, sometimes a five day chill can do wonders for you both mentally and physically.

So go forth my beauties, put the wanderlust aside for just a second and perhaps make your next trip or staycation somewhere meant for pure relaxation.

Wow! First of all these photos are absolutely stunning and I wish I was there right now!!Second of all, I'm so glad you've got this new energy and that you had such a lovely time! It's sounds pretty idyllic and I think it's what we all need every now and then, just to get away from it all and be with ourselves (and friends and cocktails of course!)Josie // JosieVictoriaa
