The Curtain | with booking.com

Now we all know I love a staycation, I love the idea of being able to chill out and and have a mini vacay without the hassle of trains, planes or transfers. I love it because by choosing to holiday in my own city, I get to discover more of it. Areas I wouldn’t usually go to and neighbourhoods I haven’t yet discovered.

Last weekend thanks to the gang at Booking.com I was lucky enough to go to ‘The Curtain.’ The new hotel, restaurant, music venue and members club that recently opened in Shoreditch. Now of course I wouldn’t be a Londoner if I wasn’t familiar with the Shoreditch scene but The Curtain is certainly becoming the latest go-to place in East London so natuarally I had to check it out for myself.

Known for it’s creativity, The Curtain fits in perfectly with it’s surroundings. The hotel boasts of 120 guest rooms, a roof top pool, 24 – hour gym, treatment rooms, co-working space, members club, ballroom, screening room and the famous Harlem expat Red Rooster restaurant.
Booking.com made this unique experience possible and I could not recommend it enough, so be sure to experience it for yourself!

I checked in on arrival and was given the key card to my room along with a gin and tonic to enhance my arrival….I mean?!

I was so excited as I’d been given a cheeky upgrade (GET INNNNN) and so I got to stay in one of the hotels Shoreditch Suites. A large, light filled suite with amazing warehouse style windows and exposed brick. A separate living space with beautiful chesterfield chairs and a freestanding bath. It really was so stunning!

The bath was amazing, we all know I have a thing for bubble baths and this one did not disappoint, I hopped in as soon as I’d finsihed unpacking and laid back with a glass of bubbles, looked out over the whole of Shoreditch and caught up with the latest episode of Love Island on the over head TV….. bliss!

The bed was a King size and was so comfy, a great nights sleep was had by both me and my gal pal Yasmin who joined me for the weekend. The bathroom was pure blogger goals, all marble and just so so pretty. Also huge bonus points for the underfloor heating and the shower/steam room.

The room really was so beautiful and I felt like a real life princess strutting around the suite enjoying room service and popping the prosecco!

As a self confessed foodie, a big part of any stopover for me is the food. This yet another area that The Curtain really does excel at. Whether it be the breakfast buffet in the morning over looking the rooftop lido or the room service, every morsel of food that entered my mouth was perfection.

Of course the stand out was the Red Rooster restaurant. From the acclaimed New York chef and restauranter Marcus Samuelsson the renowned Harlem hotspot comes to Shoreditch!

This was for sure a highlight of the visit for both me and Yasmin, we literally tried the majority of the menu.

Stand outs where the salmon, the corn bread, the cocktails (we had a fair few) and the chicken and waffles – which is the best chicken I’ve ever tasted… no joke.

The whole restaurant and bar was buzzing with atmosphere. Live music gives it that extra special something and the genuinely amazing staff who got all the guests talking to each other made the night one to remember. Perfect for a date, a girls night out, even a party – the restaurant has it’s own private dining area available. Be sure to book well in advance, the waiting list is a long one but it’s well worth it.

The Curtain is for sure one of the most excitng and biggest hotel launches in London at the moment. For travel, for food and for pure luxury it’s definitely the place to go!

If you’re thinking of booking your own stay be sure to comment below any questions and I’ll do my best to answer. I hope you enjoyed this post and hopefully you’ll get to explore The Curtain and have a foodie feast at Red Rooster yourselves very soon.

K x

I've been to the Harlem Red Rooster and am booked to go to the new London one in a few weeks time. I'm hoping it's as good, reading your review makes me think it is! Now I've read about the hotel, I might get the hubby to book that too – looks like a real treat! Maybe not a suite but deffinately a room. The pool looks great, hopefully it'll be sunny! Sam 🙂 x
