Finally, I’m home for Christmas and I couldn’t be happier!
Of course the first thing I did when getting in the house was run to the living room to see the tree.
Now I can be quite picky when it comes to Christmas trees, we always have a real one (I love the smell) and I love them to be big and full…this years is perfect!
Ah – I was made up when I saw it, twinkling away. You see unlike most Christmas trees, the Winney tree (like the Winney’s themselves) is a bit quirky.
Although I love seeing perfectly decorated, matching baubles, esthetically pleasing trees….that’s just not our style.
All of our baubles and ornaments have a story behind them, we’ve collected them from around the world and we adore anything that’s individual and a bit crazy. I’ve pictured a few of my favourites, I hope you love them as much as I do!
Along side the weird and wonderful we each have our own personalised bauble, here’s mums…
Now onto some that have come from further afield…
1965 commemorative space walk, Kennedy space centre – Florida
Heidi at Christmas – Sweden
Festive shrimp, Bubba Gump – NYC
Bal de Moulin Rouge bauble – Paris
Skippy at Christmas – Brisbane Australia
Standing guard – London
Babushka doll – Russia
Papá Noel – Mexico
The next two, the kettle and the cottage are very special. They originally belonged to my Great Grandma Annie and have been safely stored away each year. They are over 100 years old.
And finally, what family tree is complete without a homemade decoration? My mum bless her, kept my very first attempt, I used a cut up egg box, I was 3.
Merry Christmas!
Over and out,
